What we are not.

We are not crackers and we neither develop nor distribute software cracks. Password recovery software is sometimes incorrectly referred to as password crackers or password breakers (and, in theory, can be used to "crack" or "break" passwords illegally). Nevertheless, "password crackers" have nothing to do with "software crackers". Software crackers are utilities produced by criminals and are used to run illegal software copies.

On the other side, "password crackers" are utilities that can help you to crack passwords that you have lost or forgotten and access your password protected documents again, absolutely legally.

History of password recovery.

We started in 1997 with a utility called PWLVIEW that could be used to recover passwords for Windows 95. It was the first windows password recovery tool available.

In 1998 we released Office Password. We were the first to offer a password recovery tool for Office 97 that really could break its password protection (this protection was greatly enhanced as compared with previous Office versions).

Later in 1998, our new password recovery product – Access Password – became the first password recovery solution that could recover MS Access user passwords besides Access database passwords.

In 1999 the researchers from our R&D department took advantage of the exporting limitations that applied for strong cryptography at that time and developed Guaranteed Recovery, a unique technology that allowed retrieving of any Word or Excel password in 10 days. Later the recovery process was optimized and the amount of time required was cut to 24 hours. The Guaranteed Recovery technology was developed with privacy considerations in mind. It does not require you to send us the password protected document in order to recover it.

The further advancement of Guaranteed Recovery, which we called Express Recovery, was released in 2004. It was a literal breakthrough in our password recovery research, no exaggeration here. Basically, Express Recovery is similar to Guaranteed Recovery in that it provides guaranteed retrieving of any Excel or Word password. But the recent research into the nature of Word and Excel password protection allowed us to cut the time required for recovering from 24 hours to a minute!

For a long time, one of the undocumented features of Windows known as Protected Storage was recognized only by professionals. But the rules have changed as we released Secret Explorer, the first software product that allowed everyone to view, analyze and edit Protected Storage – and access all those secrets that Windows keeps there, such as IE autocomplete logins and passwords, website passwords, Outlook accounts etc.
